The stygian duo explore themes of gender dysphoria and oppressive institutions through sludgy doom with a pitch-black underbelly. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2021
At first listen deceptively simple, while multiple listens reveal how well crafted Monoliths’ music is, being multi-layered with subtle distortions, feedbacks, reverbs and drones. The lead guitar’s painterly approach to building upon the underlying sub-sonic soundscape is particularly welcome. Monoliths is an immersive experience, both hypnotic and meditative, a slow-motion implosion into a gravity-well abyss within your own unconscious mind. I could listen to hours of this. Sweet oblivion. Master of Alchemy
